The FHS Rebels defeated a very good Columbia team on Friday night to go
2 - 0 for the season. Columbia always seems to play the Rebels tough and brings a lot of very good athletes to the table with speed and aggressiveness.
The Rebels scored first with a 5 yard run by Derrian Watters. The extra point attempt turned into a 2 point conversion with David DeFatta passing to Alec Holler in the end zone to take the score to 8-0 Rebels. The Columbia Lions came back quickly in the first quarter to score a touchdown only to be denied a 2 point conversion attempt.
A 38 yard pass from Derrian Waters to John Hewitt with a David DeFatta point after gave the Rebels a 15 - 6 lead going into half-time.
Columbia threatened to score with less than 5 minutes to go in the game as they moved the ball all the way to the Rebels' 4 yard line. An outstanding defensive stand was mounted by the Rebels defense and the Lions came away scoreless on the drive.
Congratulations to the Franklin High Rebels on their victory. Be sure to come out to next week's game as the Rebels take on Henry County at home.

Coach's Comments
In regard to the Columbia game, "Great job of our defense for forcing 6 turnovers and holding Columbia to just 6 points. Columbia has a very explosive offense and had scored over 50 points just the week before.
Kicking game continued to give us a big advantage in field position."
"Typical Henry County team, big, physical, plays hard. They have a very athletic QB. They will certainly have worked out some of the first game mistakes and be ready to play this Friday. This is our first region game so the intensity will be high. Get ready for a physical hard nosed football game."
"Thanks for the great fan support. Our crowd really energizes our football team."
